Algeria is a country located in the Northern region of Africa.
Algeria, or the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, is located in North Africa. In terms of geographical size, Algeria is the largest country in Africa and the 11th largest country in the world. About 80% of Algeria is desert, with a small coastal area in the north that borders the Mediterranean Sea.
Algeria also shares borders with the countries of Morocco, Mauritania, and Mali to the west/southwest as well as with Tunisia, Libya, and Niger to the east/southeast. Most of the population (of almost 45 million) is found it the northern coastal area. The capital and largest city is Algiers with a population of almost 3 million.
